A proper cleaning program is essential in maintaining your anilox roll inventory. The importance of this program will manifest itself in more easily achieved print quality, increased press up-time and less waste. This program needs to include a daily cleaning process, a way to measure and track roll data and well as an effective deep cleaning technology. The simplest way to track roll data is with a Capatch volume testing strip which quickly and easily measures the volume of any anilox roll both before and after a production run. It’s also very beneficial to have a microscope to visually inspect the condition of the cell structure. One daily cleaning option is Yellow Magic, which is a non-HazMat, environmentally safe spray-on cleaner. The final component to optimal anilox maintenance is regular deep cleanings. Eaglewood technologies has a deep cleaning solution for every flexographic printer. Capatch strips and Yellow Magic cleaner are also available at Eaglewood Technologies. Contact us to develop the maintenance program right for you!
Not all anilox roll baking soda systems are created equal! Many of them offer an in-press roll cleaning option. This option eliminates the need to remove anilox rolls from the press and the potential risk for damaging the roll. These systems are on wheels, are easily moved near the press and mount directly to the print station. Automation is very important when cleaning an anilox to assure the entire roll is cleaned consistently, effectively and safely.
Baking soda is ideal for removing any ink chemistry, coating or adhesive when used with the appropriate cleaning system. Pressures at which the media is delivered and the proper formulation is essential in achieving the most effective clean. Baking soda is non-hazardous, USDA and FDA approved for use in food grade facilities. Contact us today for a demonstration of the Sanilox™ Roll Cleaning System and learn the importance of selecting the right system.
When the Armex® Anilox Formula is delivered at the appropriate PSI (35 PSI for Ceramic, 25 for Chrome) by the Sanilox™ System, there is a micro explosion that causes the media to break down and scour the dried ink from the inside of the cells. If delivered at lower pressures, the media cannot break down properly which provides an ineffective clean. Many systems also have sub-par dust collection systems which can’t effectively vacuum the cleaning media and roll contamination.
